How to Measure Windows for Blinds (Before Your Consultation)

Accurate measurements help your design consultant prepare a faster, more precise quote. Measure width at top, middle, and bottom; height at left, center, and right; and note any obstructions.

TOOLS YOU NEED

Use a steel tape measure for accuracy, a notepad or phone to record dimensions, and a photo of each window including surrounding trim and handles.

Measure in inches to the nearest eighth for best results.

INSIDE VS OUTSIDE MOUNT

Inside mount fits within the window frame for a built-in look — measure exact opening width and height. Outside mount covers the full frame and wall area for better light blocking — measure the area you want covered plus overlap.

Your consultant will confirm mount type during the in-home visit; preliminary measurements still speed up the process.

WHEN TO LEAVE IT TO PROFESSIONALS

Specialty windows, bay configurations, and floor-to-ceiling openings benefit from professional measurement included in our free consultation. DIY measurements are a helpful starting point, not a substitute for final order dimensions.

Bring your notes to our Pompano Beach showroom for a head start on your quote.
